Bhutan Wilderness Travels is a private tour operator based in Thimphu – the capital city of Bhutan, and we are registered with the Department of Tourism, Royal Government of Bhutan, and a member of the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators. It was founded by two friends – Sonam Wangchen and Kesang Tshering who had the same trade of being guides for over ten years before they join their forces. Sonam following his graduation with Bachelors of Commerce from North Point in Darjeeling joined the tourism industry as a guide where he worked with many reputed companies leading a variety of trips throughout the country. Whereas, Kesang despite his vast experience, he is one of the very few Bhutanese to have had taken part in various guide training courses in foreign countries. He has undergone comprehensive guiding techniques training in Exum guides school, Wyoming, USA and also attended a First aid and Leadership course from Sawtooth Mountain Guide School, Stanley, Idaho, USA. He has also graduated from the International Mountain Leaders School in ST- Jean, Switzerland.

Today, with their joint experiences, Bhutan Wilderness Travel offers guided treks and excursions by car or on foot throughout the Kingdom with unequalled selection of group and individual tours to Bhutan and they are constantly inspired to introduce new tours, explore new trekking routes, and go into remote areas which haven’t been discovered. In fact, they   have some treks on their own such as the Royal Trek and the Juniper Trail for which they have exclusive access as these treks are unknown to others yet.
