October 15: Bhutan’s under-16 national team has conceded 12 goals in two matches and is languishing at the bottom of group C at the ongoing AFC U-16 championship 2010 qualifying competition.
In the group C opening match against Syria, the national U-16 team was thrashed 10-0. The Syrians took control of proceedings and played almost the entire game in the Bhutanese half. Jihad Asia and Hussam Omr each scored a hat trick for Syria, while there was one goal each for Adnan Taki, Walat Hamadi, Shareef Sebaee and Abdal Rahman Sabooh.
Syria scored five goals in each half.
The second match on October 10 against Palestine started brightly with midfielder Chencho Gyeltshen taking the lead in the 17th minute. But Palestine midfielder Ashraf Nababta scored two goals to boot the Bhutanese to the bottom of the table.
Bhutan is grouped with host Yemen, Syria, Palestine, Iraq and Qatar. Bhutan played Iraq late evening yesterday.
